If you use photoshop or adobe elements program the dodge tool can be used to brighten some of the darker areas without effecting other parts of the photo. Sort of a spot exposure adjustment tool.

Great composition and good framing but I'd brighten his face, arm in the foreground and abit of the guitar where he's strumming.
